  4. 4. Heat the mixture while stirring until it boils.
  5. 5. Remove the pot from the heat.
  6. 6. Stir in the oatmeal (reserve 4 tablespoons for later).
  7. 7. Let the porridge simmer on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. 8. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  9. 9. Check the consistency.
  10. 10. If necessary, add a little more milk until the porridge is thick.
  11. 11. Remove the vanilla pod from the pot.
  12. 12. Serve the warm porridge onto plates.
  13. 13. Chop the walnuts coarsely.
  14. 14. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts and the reserved oatmeal over the porridge.
  15. 15. Drizzle syrup over the finished dish.
