🍽️ Crispy Shortcrust Ginger Stars

Ingredients
- 40 g candied ginger (very finely chopped)
- 10 g candied ginger (cut into thin strips)
- 150 g butter
- 1 egg yolk
- 100 g sugar
- 250 g flour
Instructions
- 1. Take the soft butter and add the egg yolk, sugar, flour, and chopped ginger.
- 2. Work all ingredients together by hand or with a machine until a smooth dough forms.
- 3. Shape the dough into a ball and wrap it tightly in cling film.
- 4. Place the foil-wrapped ball in the refrigerator for 60 minutes to let the dough rest.
- 5. Dust your work surface with some flour and roll out the dough to a thickness of about 4 millimeters.
- 6. Use a star-shaped cutter to cut out several stars from the dough.
- 7. Place the dough stars on a baking sheet that you have lined with baking paper.
- 8. Decorate the stars with thin strips of fresh ginger.
- 9. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
- 10. Put the tray in the oven and bake the stars for about 20 minutes until they are light yellow.
- 11. Remove the tray and let the stars cool down completely on it.
