  2. 2. Distribute the salt, the egg, and the butter evenly over the flour mixture.
  3. 3. Turn the hand mixer with the dough hooks to the lowest setting.
  4. 4. Mix the ingredients gently until no more flour dusts out of the bowl.
  5. 5. Increase the mixer speed to the highest setting.
  6. 6. Continue kneading the dough until it breaks into small crumbs.
  7. 7. Remove the bowl from the mixer and quickly knead the crumbs together with your hands to form a smooth dough.
  8. 8. Wrap the dough tightly in plastic wrap.
  9. 9. Place the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to chill.
  10. 10. Now continue processing the shortcrust pastry according to the instructions of your desired recipe.
