🍽️ Carrots in Yeast Dough Wraps

Ingredients
- 1100 g Carrots (11 Carrots)
- 500 g Flour (Type 1050)
- 1 packet Dry yeast
- Salt
- 3 tbsp Olive oil
- 200 g Turkey ham (10 slices)
- 10 tsp Tomato paste
- 300 g Low-fat Gouda (10 slices)
- 4 tbsp Milk (1.5% fat)
- 3 tbsp Sesame
Instructions
- 1. Wash, trim, and peel the carrots.
- 2. Grate one carrot finely.
- 3. Set the remaining carrots aside.
- 4. Add the grated carrot, flour, and dried yeast to a mixing bowl.
- 5. Mix these ingredients well together.
- 6. Add 200 milliliters of lukewarm water, one teaspoon of salt, and the oil.
- 7. Knead the mixture into a smooth yeast dough using the dough hooks of a hand mixer.
- 8. If the dough feels too firm, add a little more water.
- 9. Continue kneading the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands or the bowl.
- 10. Lightly dust the bowl with flour.
- 11. Cover the bowl.
- 12. Let the dough rise at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- 13. Wait until the volume of the dough has doubled.
- 14. Bring 200 milliliters of salted water to a boil in a wide pot.
- 15. Add the 10 reserved carrots to the boiling water.
- 16. Cover the pot.
- 17. Cook the carrots until al dente over medium heat for 10 to 12 minutes.
- 18. Drain the carrots.
- 19. Let them drain well.
- 20. Spread one teaspoon of tomato paste on each slice of ham.
- 21. Place one slice of cheese on the ham.
- 22. Place one cooked carrot in the center.
- 23. Wrap the ham and cheese slices around the carrot to form a roll.
- 24. Divide the yeast dough into 10 equal portions.
- 25. Roll each portion into an elongated flatbread.
- 26. Wrap a dough flatbread around a prepared carrot roll.
- 27. Press the dough firmly while doing so.
- 28. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.
- 29. Brush the dough rolls with milk.
- 30. Roll the wraps around in sesame seeds.
- 31. Arrange the rolls on the baking sheet.
- 32. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (convection: 180 degrees, gas: setting 3).
- 33. Bake the rolls on the middle rack for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
- 34. Serve the dishes hot or lukewarm.
