  1. 1. Dice the matjes herring into small cubes.
  2. 2. Dice the boiled egg into small cubes as well.
  3. 3. Remove the core from the pear.
  4. 4. Wash the celery and dice it into fine cubes.
  5. 5. Dice the Gouda cheese into fine cubes.
  6. 6. Place the diced celery and Gouda into a bowl.
  7. 7. Place mayonnaise and mustard into a separate small bowl.
  8. 8. Stir the mayonnaise and mustard together vigorously.
  9. 9. Add lemon juice, grated ginger, salt, and pepper to the mayonnaise mixture.
  10. 10. Mix the seasoned sauce well.
  11. 11. Add the finished sauce to the matjes and egg cubes.
  12. 12. Add the crab meat.
  13. 13. Mix all salad ingredients carefully but thoroughly.
  14. 14. Slice the baguette into even slices.
  15. 15. Toast the bread slices in the oven or toaster until golden brown.
  16. 16. Spread tartar sauce onto the toasted bread slices.
  17. 17. Place the matjes salad onto the sauced bread slices.
  18. 18. Garnish the dish with fresh dill sprigs.
