🍽️ Matjes in the Style of a Housewife

Ingredients
- 4 matjes double fillets
- 2 apples
- 2 onions
- 4 gherkins
- 2 tbsp gherkin brine
- 400 g sour cream
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 0.125 l milk
- 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 pinch sugar
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onion and cut it into rings. Peel the apples, cut them into quarters, remove the core, and slice them thinly. Slice the cucumbers in the same way.
- 2. Stir together sour cream, mayonnaise, milk, and vinegar to make a marinade. Season the mixture with cucumber brine, sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour the marinade over the onions, apples, and cucumbers and mix everything well.
- 3. Rinse the matjes, pat it dry, and cut it into bite-sized pieces at a slight angle. Fold the fish pieces into the vegetable marinade and serve the dish.
- 4. Boiled potatoes go very well with this dish.
