- 2. Bring the mixture to a boil on the stove.
- 3. Wash the apples thoroughly under running water.
- 4. Remove the core of the apples using an apple corer.
- 5. Cut the apples in half so that you get two halves per apple.
- 6. Place the apple halves into the boiling wine syrup.
- 7. Let the apples simmer gently in the liquid for about 5 minutes.
- 8. Carefully remove the apple halves from the syrup and set them aside.
- 9. Lightly grease a baking dish with some fat.
- 10. Place the apple halves into the prepared baking dish.
- 11. Continue to reduce the remaining liquid in the pot.
- 12. Wait until the liquid thickens and reaches a syrupy consistency.
- 13. Cut the marzipan into small, manageable pieces.
- 14. Add the marzipan pieces to the reduced liquid.
- 15. Stir the mixture well until the marzipan has completely dissolved.
- 16. Put the egg white into a clean bowl and add a pinch of salt.
- 17. Beat the egg white with a mixer until very stiff, forming firm peaks.
- 18. Gently fold the stiffly beaten marzipan-egg white mixture in to avoid losing the air.
- 19. Coat the apple halves in the baking dish generously with the marzipan mixture.
- 20. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees.
- 21. Place the baking dish into the preheated oven.
- 22. Bake the apples for about 6 minutes.
