🍽️ Chestnut Stuffing

Ingredients
- 1 kg chestnuts
- 250 g sweet-sour apples
- 2 onions
- salt
- pepper from the mill
- 1 tbsp chopped thyme
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees. Set it to top and bottom heat.
- 2. Use a small, sharp knife to cut a cross into the shell of each chestnut.
- 3. Place the chestnuts in the preheated oven.
- 4. Roast the chestnuts for about 40 minutes.
- 5. Turn the chestnuts occasionally during roasting so they cook evenly.
- 6. Remove the chestnuts from the oven.
- 7. Peel the shells off the chestnuts while they are still hot.
- 8. Peel the onions.
- 9. Peel the apples.
- 10. Remove the core from the apples.
- 11. Finely chop the onions.
- 12. Finely chop the apples.
- 13. Heat the butter in a pan.
- 14. Sauté the onions in the hot butter.
- 15. Add the chopped apples to the pan.
- 16. Continue to sauté the apples with the onions.
- 17. Season the mixture with salt.
- 18. Season the mixture with pepper.
- 19. Add thyme to season the mixture.
- 20. Season the stuffing to taste with salt and pepper.
- 21. Set aside the prepared chestnuts.
- 22. Mix the chestnuts into the apple and onion mixture.
- 23. Remove the pan from the heat.
- 24. Let the stuffing cool until it is lukewarm.
- 25. Use the cooled stuffing to fill the turkey.
