- 1. Fill a bowl with warm water.
- 2. Place the chestnuts in the water for about 30 minutes.
- 3. Take the chestnuts out of the water.
- 4. Dry them with a kitchen towel.
- 5. Cut a cross into the hard shell of each chestnut using a sharp, pointed knife.
- 6. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 7. Spread the chestnuts evenly on the tray.
- 8. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius top/bottom heat.
- 9. If you use fan-assisted heat, set the oven to 180 degrees.
- 10. If you have a gas oven, set it to level 3.
- 11. Put the tray into the hot oven.
- 12. Bake the chestnuts for about 20 minutes.
- 13. Take the tray out when the shells have opened up.
- 14. Let the chestnuts cool down for a moment.
- 15. Carefully remove the flesh from the shell.
- 16. Enjoy your warm chestnuts.
