  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the sour cherries under running water.
  2. 2. Remove the pits from the cherries.
  3. 3. Let the pitted cherries drain well in a sieve.
  4. 4. Grease a loaf pan with one teaspoon of butter.
  5. 5. Coat the greased pan with breadcrumbs.
  6. 6. Add the remaining butter, coconut blossom sugar, and a pinch of salt to a large mixing bowl.
  7. 7. Beat the butter-sugar mixture with an electric hand mixer until fluffy.
  8. 8. Stir the eggs into the butter mixture one by one.
  9. 9. Mix both types of flour, baking powder, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  10. 10. Alternately stir in the flour mixture and the buttermilk into the butter-egg mixture.
  11. 11. Divide the finished dough into two equal halves.
  12. 12. Stir the cocoa powder into one of the two dough halves.
  13. 13. Place half of the dark dough into the prepared loaf pan.
  14. 14. Place half of the light dough on top of the dark dough.
  15. 15. Smooth the surface of the dough with a spatula.
  16. 16. Sprinkle half of the sour cherries evenly over the dough.
  17. 17. Add the remaining light and dark dough in layers on top.
  18. 18. Distribute the remaining sour cherries evenly on the top layer of dough.
  19. 19. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius conventional heat.
  20. 20. Bake the cake for about 65 minutes in the preheated oven.
  21. 21. Remove the cake from the oven after the baking time.
  22. 22. Let the cake cool in the pan for ten minutes.
  23. 23. Carefully turn the cake out onto a cooling rack.
  24. 24. Turn the cake over so it can cool completely.
  25. 25. Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar if desired.
  26. 26. Cut the cake into slices and serve.
