  3. 3. Gently open the tomatoes so they unfold.
  4. 4. Place the tomatoes on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  5. 5. Lightly dust the tomatoes with powdered sugar.
  6. 6. Drizzle some olive oil over the tomatoes.
  7. 7. Preheat the grill to 180 degrees Celsius.
  8. 8. Grill the tomatoes for 10 to 15 minutes.
  9. 9. Remove the tomatoes from the grill when they are soft but still hold their shape.
  10. 10. Peel the garlic cloves.
  11. 11. Finely chop two garlic cloves.
  12. 12. Pluck half of the thyme leaves from the stems.
  13. 13. Finely chop the thyme leaves.
  14. 14. Wash the chili pepper.
  15. 15. Cut the chili pepper in half lengthwise.
  16. 16. Remove the seeds from the chili pepper.
  17. 17. Finely chop the chili pepper.
  18. 18. Mix the chopped chili with the chopped garlic and thyme.
  19. 19. Season the mixture with salt.
  20. 20. Spread the garlic-thyme mixture over the grilled tomatoes.
  21. 21. Fold the tomatoes back together.
  22. 22. Place the tomatoes into a prepared jar.
  23. 23. Layer the remaining garlic and thyme sprigs into the jar.
  24. 24. Fill the jar with olive oil.
  25. 25. Seal the jar tightly.
  26. 26. Let the tomatoes marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
