  1. 1. Lightly press the olives or make small cuts in them with a small knife.
  2. 2. Place the prepared olives into a bowl.
  3. 3. Cut the chili pepper in half lengthwise.
  4. 4. Remove the seeds from the chili pepper.
  5. 5. Rinse the deseeded chili pepper.
  6. 6. Finely chop the chili pepper.
  7. 7. Peel the onion.
  8. 8. Slice the onion into very thin rings.
  9. 9. Wash the fennel.
  10. 10. Cut out the hard base of the fennel in a wedge shape.
  11. 11. Cut the fennel bulb into small cubes.
  12. 12. Wash the basil.
  13. 13. Shake the basil dry.
  14. 14. Pluck the basil leaves off the stems.
  15. 15. Roughly chop the basil leaves.
  16. 16. Add all prepared ingredients to the olives in the bowl.
  17. 17. Cut the orange in half.
  18. 18. Squeeze the juice from the orange.
  19. 19. Add three tablespoons of orange juice to the olives.
  20. 20. Add olive oil to the olives.
  21. 21. Season the mixture with pepper.
  22. 22. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  23. 23. Cover the bowl.
  24. 24. Place the bowl in the refrigerator.
  25. 25. Let the olives marinate for 24 to 36 hours.
