  1. 1. Knead butter, marzipan raw mass, and one-third of the sugar into a smooth dough. Place the mixture in a bowl. Separate the eggs. Stir vanilla paste and the egg yolks into the butter-marzipan mixture one after the other.
  2. 2. Whip the egg whites until stiff and slowly pour in the remaining sugar. Gently fold one-third of the egg whites into the mixture, then the rest. Mix flour and starch and fold them into the mixture.
  3. 3. Grease a Margarete cake pan or a springform pan (26 cm diameter). Fill the pan with the dough and smooth the surface.
  4. 4. Bake the cake in the preheated oven (electric oven: 200°C, gas oven: level 3) for 55 to 60 minutes.
  5. 5. Let the cake cool slightly in the pan. Carefully remove it and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. 6. Warm apricot jam with 2 tablespoons of water. Strain the warm mixture through a sieve and brush the cake thinly with it. Let the glaze set.
  7. 7. Warm red currant jelly and decorate the center of the cake with it. Let the cake cool.
