  2. 2. Place the bread slices in a bowl of cold water and let them soften.
  3. 3. Pour boiling water over the almonds.
  4. 4. Squeeze the almond kernels out of the softened shells.
  5. 5. Dry the almonds with a kitchen towel.
  6. 6. Peel the garlic clove.
  7. 7. Squeeze the soaked bread firmly so that no water remains.
  8. 8. Put the bread, garlic, and almonds into a blender.
  9. 9. Blend the ingredients into a smooth paste.
  10. 10. Transfer the paste into a large bowl.
  11. 11. Stir the olive oil and 800 milliliters of water into the paste.
  12. 12. Season the soup generously with vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  13. 13. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  14. 14. Pour the finished soup into bowls.
  15. 15. Sprinkle the soup with roasted almonds.
  16. 16. Serve the dish with toasted bread on the side if desired.
