🍰 Juicy Orange Almond Cake

Ingredients
- 1 unpeeled orange
- 300 g butter
- 250 g sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 20 ml Grand Marnier
- 5 eggs
- 200 g flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 70 g cornstarch
- 100 g ground almond kernels
- 2 drops bitter almond extract
- 150 g powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 170 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 2. Wash the orange thoroughly and dry it with a cloth.
- 3. Finely grate the orange peel to obtain the orange zest.
- 4. Cut the orange in half and squeeze out the juice.
- 5. Beat the butter together with the sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy.
- 6. Add the orange zest, a pinch of salt, one tablespoon of orange juice, and Grand Marnier to the butter mixture.
- 7. Stir the eggs one by one into the mixture.
- 8. Mix the flour with baking powder and starch in a separate bowl.
- 9. Gently fold the flour mixture into the egg-sugar-butter mixture.
- 10. Mix the almonds and the flavoring evenly into the dough.
- 11. Pour the dough into a springform pan lined with baking paper.
- 12. Smooth the surface of the dough.
- 13. Bake the cake for 50 to 60 minutes.
- 14. Remove the cake from the oven.
