  3. 3. Crumble the fresh yeast into the well.
  4. 4. Add one tablespoon of sugar and a few tablespoons of lukewarm milk.
  5. 5. Stir the ingredients together with a little flour to form a thick starter dough.
  6. 6. Lightly dust the surface with flour.
  7. 7. Let the starter dough rise covered in a warm place for about 15 minutes.
  8. 8. Add the remaining sugar, vanilla sugar, egg yolks, salt, and butter to the dough.
  9. 9. Work everything into a smooth yeast dough.
  10. 10. Let the dough rise covered with a cloth for another 30 minutes.
  11. 11. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  12. 12. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  13. 13. Spread the dough evenly on a floured surface.
  14. 14. Place the dough on the prepared baking tray.
  15. 15. Press the dough into a wavy pattern.
  16. 16. Peel the apples and cut them into quarters.
  17. 17. Remove the core from the apple quarters.
  18. 18. Slice the apples thinly.
  19. 19. Place the apple slices into the indentations of the dough.
  20. 20. Distribute the butter in small flakes over the entire cake.
  21. 21. Sprinkle the almonds and sugar over the top.
