🍰 Crunchy Apple-Almond Cake with Yeast Dough

Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 1 cube yeast (42 g)
- 60 g sugar
- 200 ml lukewarm milk
- 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 100 g melted butter
- flour (for the work surface)
- 2 apples
- 200 g butter
- 150 g sliced almond kernels
- 75 g sugar
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- 1. Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl.
- 2. Make a well in the center of the flour.
- 3. Crumble the fresh yeast into the well.
- 4. Add one tablespoon of sugar and a few tablespoons of lukewarm milk.
- 5. Stir the ingredients together with a little flour to form a thick starter dough.
- 6. Lightly dust the surface with flour.
- 7. Let the starter dough rise covered in a warm place for about 15 minutes.
- 8. Add the remaining sugar, vanilla sugar, egg yolks, salt, and butter to the dough.
- 9. Work everything into a smooth yeast dough.
- 10. Let the dough rise covered with a cloth for another 30 minutes.
- 11. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 12. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 13. Spread the dough evenly on a floured surface.
- 14. Place the dough on the prepared baking tray.
- 15. Press the dough into a wavy pattern.
- 16. Peel the apples and cut them into quarters.
- 17. Remove the core from the apple quarters.
- 18. Slice the apples thinly.
- 19. Place the apple slices into the indentations of the dough.
- 20. Distribute the butter in small flakes over the entire cake.
- 21. Sprinkle the almonds and sugar over the top.
- 22. Put the cake into the oven.
- 23. Bake the cake for 40 to 45 minutes.
- 24. Let the finished cake cool down.
- 25. Dust the cake with powdered sugar.
- 26. Serve the cake.
