  1. 1. Preheat a large pan or pot over medium heat.
  2. 2. Add a splash of olive oil to the hot pan.
  3. 3. Peel the onion, garlic, celery, and carrot.
  4. 4. Dice the vegetables into very small cubes.
  5. 5. Sauté the vegetables in the hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. 6. Stir the tomato paste into the vegetables.
  7. 7. Deglaze the pan with the vegetable broth.
  8. 8. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly.
  9. 9. Cut out the hard stem base from the tomatoes.
  10. 10. Cut the tomatoes into coarse chunks.
  11. 11. Add the tomato chunks to the soup.
  12. 12. Add the basil to the soup.
  13. 13. Let the soup simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
  14. 14. Puree the soup finely with a hand blender.
  15. 15. Strain the soup through a fine sieve to make it completely smooth.
  16. 16. Add the cream to the soup.
  17. 17. Bring the soup to a brief boil.
  18. 18. Check the consistency of the soup.
  19. 19. If the soup is too thick, add a little more broth.
  20. 20. If the soup is too thin, let it simmer a bit longer to reduce.
  21. 21. Season the soup with sea salt and sugar to taste.
  22. 22. Serve the finished soup onto plates.
  23. 23. Halve the eggs and place the halves as eyes in the soup.
  24. 24. Halve the olives and place them as eyes in the soup as well.
  25. 25. Draw a funny face in the soup using a spoonful of cream.
