Ingredients
- 400 g flour
- 100 g walnuts (ground)
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 125 g powdered sugar
- 250 g butter
- 0.5 tsp cinnamon
- 0.5 tsp clove
- 4 tbsp whipping cream
- 350 g red currant jam
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions
- 1. Mix flour, baking powder, powdered sugar, chopped walnuts, cinnamon, and ground cloves in a bowl.
- 2. Add the butter cut into small cubes and the cream.
- 3. Knead the ingredients quickly into a smooth dough.
- 4. Shape the dough into a ball.
- 5. Wrap the dough ball in cling film.
- 6. Place the foil in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- 7. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees.
- 8. Grease a baking sheet with butter.
- 9. Take two-thirds of the dough out of the refrigerator.
- 10. Roll out this portion of the dough flat on the sheet.
- 11. Warm the jam in a pot until it is liquid.
- 12. Stir the warm jam until smooth.
- 13. Spread the jam evenly over the dough base.
- 14. Take the remaining dough out of the refrigerator.
- 15. Roll out the remaining dough flat as well.
- 16. Cut the dough into strips about 3 millimeters wide.
- 17. Place the strips diagonally over the jam to form a lattice pattern.
- 18. Bake the slices for about 30 minutes in the oven.
- 19. Take the tray out of the oven.
- 20. Let the slices cool down completely.
- 21. Cut the cooled slices into squares of about 4 by 4 centimeters.
