🥤 Homemade Marigold Liqueur

Ingredients
- 4 calendula
- 1 untreated lemon
- 400 g sugar
- 600 ml alcohol (e.g. grain alcohol)
Instructions
- 1. Pick the marigold flowers and remove all green, inedible parts.
- 2. Place the cleaned flowers into a pot.
- 3. Pour 400 milliliters of water over the flowers.
- 4. Slice a lemon into thin rounds.
- 5. Add the lemon slices to the pot.
- 6. Bring the mixture to a boil on the stove.
- 7. Reduce the heat and let the liqueur simmer gently for about 20 minutes.
- 8. Remove the pot from the heat and let the liquid cool down briefly.
- 9. Pour the mixture through a clean linen cloth into a bowl to filter out the solid ingredients.
- 10. Gently squeeze the cloth to extract as much liquid as possible.
- 11. Add sugar to the filtered liquid.
- 12. Warm the mixture again until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- 13. Let the sweet liquid cool down completely.
- 14. Add spirits (high-proof alcohol) until the desired amount is reached.
- 15. Pour the liqueur into a clean, sealable glass jar.
- 16. Store the jar in a cool and dark place.
- 17. Let the liqueur infuse for about 4 weeks to allow the flavors to develop.
- 18. Pour the finished liqueur into clean bottles or decanters.
