  1. 1. Put honey, oil, and sugar into a pot.
  2. 2. Heat the mixture while stirring constantly until it boils briefly.
  3. 3. Remove the pot from the heat and let the honey mixture cool down.
  4. 4. Mix flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  5. 5. Add the ground hazelnuts, citron, lebkuchen spice, eggs, and 130 milliliters of milk to the flour mixture.
  6. 6. Stir the cooled honey mixture into the flour mixture using the dough hooks of your hand mixer.
  7. 7. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
  8. 8. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  9. 9. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  10. 10. Fold a strip of aluminum foil several times and place it across the tray to demarcate three-quarters of the area.
  11. 11. Distribute the dough evenly over the demarcated part of the tray.
  12. 12. Press the dough flat.
  13. 13. Brush the surface of the dough with a little milk.
  14. 14. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  15. 15. Bake the confection for approx. 20 minutes in the center of the oven until golden brown.
  16. 16. Remove the tray from the oven.
  17. 17. Let the confection cool completely on the tray.
  18. 18. Cut the cooled confection into squares with a side length of 4 x 4 centimeters.
  19. 19. Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice to make a glaze.
  20. 20. Brush the lebkuchen pieces with the glaze.
  21. 21. Decorate the pieces immediately with almonds and halved maraschino cherries.
  22. 22. Let the confection dry completely.
