  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 100 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2. Peel the onions and the garlic cloves.
  3. 3. Dice the onions and the garlic finely.
  4. 4. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
  5. 5. Sauté half of the onions and garlic in the hot oil.
  6. 6. Remove this half from the pan and set it aside.
  7. 7. Add the remaining onions and garlic to the pan.
  8. 8. Add the tomatoes with their juice.
  9. 9. Mash the tomatoes roughly with a potato masher.
  10. 10. Let the sauce simmer uncovered for approx. 30 minutes.
  11. 11. Mix the lamb mince with the reserved onions and garlic.
  12. 12. Add the breadcrumbs, eggs, Parmesan, and herbs.
  13. 13. Knead the mixture well.
  14. 14. Season the meat mixture to taste.
  15. 15. Wet your hands with water.
  16. 16. Form small balls from the meat.
  17. 17. Fry the balls in the remaining hot oil on all sides.
  18. 18. Place the balls on a plate.
  19. 19. Place the balls in the preheated oven.
  20. 20. Bake the balls for approx. 15 minutes.
  21. 21. Peel the potatoes.
  22. 22. Boil the potatoes in plenty of salted water.
  23. 23. Press the cooked potatoes through a potato press.
  24. 24. Mix the potatoes with butter and milk.
  25. 25. Season the mashed potatoes with salt and pepper.
  26. 26. Spread the mashed potatoes on the plates.
  27. 27. Pour the tomato sauce over the mashed potatoes.
  28. 28. Slice the basil leaves into strips.
  29. 29. Garnish the dish with the basil strips.
  30. 30. Serve the dish.
