  6. 6. Cut the ginger into thin strips and add it.
  7. 7. Bring the mixture to a boil on the stove.
  8. 8. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
  9. 9. Let the compote simmer gently for 6 to 8 minutes.
  10. 10. Fill the hot mixture immediately into small preserving jars.
  11. 11. Seal the jars tightly.
  12. 12. Store the compote in the refrigerator.
  13. 13. Consume it within 3 to 4 weeks.
  14. 14. Serve the compote with savory roast dishes.
