  1. 1. Wash the pumpkin and cut it into four equal pieces.
  2. 2. Remove the inner core with the seeds and peel off the hard skin completely.
  3. 3. Cut the soft flesh into large, bite-sized cubes.
  4. 4. Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise so that it is divided into two long halves.
  5. 5. Put 1 liter of water, the sugar, the two vanilla pod halves, and the cinnamon stick into a saucepan.
  6. 6. Bring the liquid to a boil on the stove.
  7. 7. Reduce the heat to a low setting and let the mixture simmer gently for 20 to 30 minutes.
  8. 8. Wait until a thick syrup sauce has formed.
  9. 9. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool down completely.
  10. 10. Preheat your oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
  11. 11. Place the pumpkin cubes into a heatproof baking dish.
  12. 12. Remove the cinnamon stick and the vanilla pods from the cooled sauce.
  13. 13. Pour the clear syrup evenly over the pumpkin cubes in the dish.
  14. 14. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake the cubes for 90 minutes.
  15. 15. Take the dish out occasionally and turn the pumpkin pieces repeatedly so they cook evenly.
  16. 16. Remove the dish from the oven and serve the dish cold.
