🍽️ Sago Coconut Soup

Ingredients
- 80 g sago pearls
- 250 g sweet potatoes
- 250 g yam
- 60 g brown sugar
- 2 pandan leaves
- 200 ml coconut milk
Instructions
- 1. Put the sago into a bowl.
- 2. Cover the sago with hot water.
- 3. Let the sago soak for about 10 minutes.
- 4. Peel the potatoes and the yam.
- 5. Wash the peeled tubers.
- 6. Cut the potatoes and the yam into coarse chunks.
- 7. Place the chunks in a steamer insert.
- 8. Sprinkle the pieces with one teaspoon of sugar.
- 9. Place the steamer insert over boiling water.
- 10. Cover the steamer.
- 11. Steam the tubers for about 20 minutes until tender.
- 12. Pour 800 milliliters of water into a pot.
- 13. Add the remaining sugar to the water.
- 14. Bring the water to a boil.
- 15. Tie the pandan leaves into a knot.
- 16. Add the knotted pandan leaves to the boiling water.
- 17. Reduce the heat.
- 18. Add the drained sago to the soup.
- 19. Add the coconut milk to the soup.
- 20. Stir in the sago and the coconut milk.
- 21. Let the soup simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes.
- 22. Stir the soup occasionally.
- 23. Continue cooking until the sago pearls are transparent.
- 24. Remove the pandan leaves from the soup.
- 25. Add the steamed potato and yam chunks to the soup.
- 26. Sweeten the soup to taste if necessary.
- 27. Fill the soup into bowls.
- 28. Serve the soup hot or chilled.
