  1. 1. Whip the egg whites in a bowl until very stiff.
  2. 2. Gradually add the sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt to the egg whites.
  3. 3. Gently fold the coconut flakes into the mixture at the end.
  4. 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  5. 5. Place walnut-sized mounds of the mixture onto the tray.
  6. 6. Shape the mounds into triangles using a knife lightly dusted with flour.
  7. 7. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius (or to gas mark 1-2 for gas ovens).
  8. 8. Bake the triangles for 30 minutes until the edges are lightly browned.
  9. 9. Let the coconut triangles cool down completely on the tray.
  10. 10. Melt the coating chocolate in a water bath.
  11. 11. Dip one corner of each cooled triangle briefly into the melted chocolate.
  12. 12. Let the chocolate dry in the air.
  13. 13. Insert a wire into the undipped corner of each triangle.
  14. 14. Attach the triangles to a small Christmas tree or similar decoration using the wires.
