🍽️ Crispy Cod Strips with Tartar Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 shallot
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp capers
- 2 small pickles
- 1 tsp mustard
- salt
- pepper
- 1 tbsp chive rings
- 400 g cod fillet
- salt
- pepper
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2 eggs
- 80 g breadcrumbs
- fat (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Boil the egg until hard-boiled.
- 2. Peel the shallot and chop it very finely.
- 3. Put the mayonnaise into a bowl.
- 4. Finely chop the capers and add them to the mayonnaise.
- 5. Dice the gherkins very finely and add them.
- 6. Peel the boiled egg and dice it finely.
- 7. Add the diced egg to the sauce.
- 8. Mix all ingredients well together.
- 9. Season the sauce with mustard, salt, and pepper.
- 10. Fold in the chive rolls.
- 11. Fill the tartar sauce into a small bowl for dipping.
- 12. Rinse the cod fillet briefly.
- 13. Dry the fish with kitchen paper.
- 14. Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces.
- 15. Season the fish pieces with salt and pepper.
- 16. Crack the egg and whisk it.
- 17. Put the whisked egg into a bowl.
- 18. Put the flour on a plate.
- 19. Put the breadcrumbs on a second plate.
- 20. Roll the fish pieces briefly in the flour.
- 21. Dip the floured fish pieces into the egg.
- 22. Finally, roll the fish pieces in the breadcrumbs.
- 23. Press the coating firmly onto the fish.
- 24. Heat the frying oil to approx. 170 degrees Celsius.
- 25. Fry the fish fillets in batches for approx. 2 minutes.
- 26. Remove the fish pieces with a slotted spoon.
- 27. Let the fish pieces drain on kitchen paper.
- 28. Serve the cod strips immediately while hot.
