🍽️ Fluffy Bread Dumplings

Ingredients
- 1 shallot
- 1 tbsp butter
- 8 stale rolls (approx. 300 g)
- 200 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- breadcrumbs (if necessary)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the shallot and cut it into very small cubes.
- 2. Heat some butter in a pan and sauté the shallot cubes until they are soft and translucent.
- 3. Slice the bread rolls into thick slices.
- 4. Place the bread slices into a large bowl.
- 5. Pour the hot milk directly over the bread slices.
- 6. Add the eggs, chopped parsley, marjoram, the sautéed shallots, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
- 7. Mix all ingredients well together until a homogeneous mass is formed.
- 8. Let the dumpling mixture rest for about 20 minutes so that the bread can absorb the liquid.
- 9. Check the consistency of the mixture.
- 10. If the mixture seems too dry, add a little more milk.
- 11. If the mixture seems too wet, add some breadcrumbs.
- 12. Shape several round dumplings from the mixture using your hands.
- 13. Bring a pot of salted water to a gentle simmer.
- 14. Carefully place the dumplings into the hot water.
- 15. Cook the dumplings in the water for about 20 minutes.
- 16. Lift the finished dumplings out of the water with a slotted spoon.
- 17. Serve the dumplings immediately while warm.
