  1. 1. Pat the halibut steaks dry with kitchen paper.
  2. 2. Place the steaks on a plate.
  3. 3. Drizzle each steak with 1 to 2 tablespoons of soy sauce.
  4. 4. Let the steaks marinate for 5 minutes.
  5. 5. Peel the garlic.
  6. 6. Slice the garlic thinly lengthwise.
  7. 7. Heat 4 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
  8. 8. Fry the garlic slices in the hot oil until golden yellow.
  9. 9. Remove the garlic slices from the pan immediately to prevent them from burning.
  10. 10. Place the garlic slices on a plate and set aside.
  11. 11. Let the fish drain slightly.
  12. 12. Catch the draining juice.
  13. 13. Fry the fish steaks in the hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  14. 14. Remove the cooked fish steaks from the pan.
  15. 15. Place the steaks on pre-warmed plates.
  16. 16. Return the collected juice and the garlic to the pan.
  17. 17. Let the mixture bubble up briefly.
  18. 18. Distribute the garlic spoonful by spoonful over the halibut.
  19. 19. Season the fish generously with pepper.
