🍽️ Crunchy Cherry Strudel

Ingredients
- 1 Strudel dough
- 250 g flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 egg yolks
- 0.125 l lukewarm water
- 1 pinch salt
- butter (for brushing)
- 800 g pitted cherries
- 100 g powdered sugar
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
- butter (for the baking sheet)
Instructions
- 1. Prepare the strudel dough according to the instructions on the package.
- 2. Alternatively: Sift flour and salt into a mixing bowl.
- 3. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.
- 4. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of melted butter into the well.
- 5. Add the egg yolk.
- 6. Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough.
- 7. Add lukewarm water gradually until the dough is pliable.
- 8. Continue beating the dough until it releases from the sides of the bowl.
- 9. Dust your work surface with a little flour.
- 10. Knead the dough briefly by hand.
- 11. Shape the dough into a ball.
- 12. Brush the ball with a little melted butter.
- 13. Wrap the dough ball in plastic wrap.
- 14. Let the dough rest overnight in the refrigerator.
- 15. Place a large cloth on your work surface.
- 16. Dust the cloth with flour.
- 17. Mix the cherries with powdered sugar.
- 18. Halve the cherries.
- 19. Roll out the dough on the cloth.
- 20. Distribute the cherries evenly over the dough.
- 21. Roll up the dough immediately.
- 22. Repeat the process with the second portion of dough.
- 23. Fold in the sides of the strudel.
- 24. Grease a large baking sheet generously with butter.
- 25. Place the strudel on the tray with the seam facing down.
- 26. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius.
- 27. Bake the strudel for 35 minutes until golden brown.
- 28. Let the strudel rest for 10 minutes.
- 29. Slice the strudel only after resting.
- 30. Dust the finished strudel with powdered sugar.
