  1. 1. Rinse four screw-top jars (each 400 milliliters) and the matching lids with boiling water.
  2. 2. Place the jars and lids upside down on a kitchen towel and let them drain.
  3. 3. Thoroughly wash the cherries.
  4. 4. Let the cherries drain well.
  5. 5. Remove the stems from the cherries.
  6. 6. Pit the cherries.
  7. 7. Cut the pitted cherries into small pieces.
  8. 8. Place the chopped cherries into a pot.
  9. 9. Add the jam sugar to the pot.
  10. 10. Pour the red wine into the pot.
  11. 11. Stir the mixture well until everything is combined.
  12. 12. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly.
  13. 13. Let the jam boil vigorously for 4 minutes.
  14. 14. Fill the hot cherry jam immediately into the prepared jars.
  15. 15. Seal the jars tightly with the screw-top lids.
  16. 16. Place the sealed jars upside down and let them stand for 5 minutes.
  17. 17. Then place the jars upright again.
