Ingredients
- 500 g cherries
- 250 g quark
- 80 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 lemon (juice squeezed)
- 4 rolls
- 250 ml milk
- 50 g butter
Instructions
- 1. Cut the white bread into very small cubes.
- 2. Place the bread cubes into a bowl.
- 3. Pour the hot milk over the bread pieces.
- 4. Take a second, clean bowl.
- 5. Add the quark to the second bowl.
- 6. Add the sugar.
- 7. Add the vanilla sugar.
- 8. Crack the two eggs into the bowl.
- 9. Add the lemon juice.
- 10. Mix all ingredients in the second bowl thoroughly.
- 11. Fold the soaked bread cubes into the quark mixture.
- 12. Pit the cherries.
- 13. Take a deep, ovenproof dish.
- 14. Grease the dish generously with butter.
- 15. Place half of the quark-bread mixture into the dish.
- 16. Scatter half of the cherries on top of the mixture.
- 17. Cover everything with the remaining quark-bread mixture.
- 18. Sprinkle the remaining cherries on top.
- 19. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- 20. Place the dish in the preheated oven.
- 21. Bake the casserole for about 40 minutes.
- 22. Remove the casserole when it is golden brown.
