  1. 1. Slice the bread rolls into thin slices.
  2. 2. Place the slices in a shallow dish.
  3. 3. Pour the milk over the bread slices.
  4. 4. Let the bread soak up the milk well.
  5. 5. Separate the eggs by separating the egg whites from the yolks.
  6. 6. Whip the egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
  7. 7. Beat the butter until creamy and frothy.
  8. 8. Stir the egg yolk into the butter.
  9. 9. Add the sugar and stir it in.
  10. 10. Fold the soaked bread slices into the butter-sugar mixture.
  11. 11. Add the cinnamon and lemon zest and mix everything well.
  12. 12. Add the drained cherries to the mixture.
  13. 13. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the cherry mixture.
  14. 14. Grease a baking dish generously with butter.
  15. 15. Coat the dish with breadcrumbs.
  16. 16. Pour the cherry-bread mixture into the prepared dish.
