  1. 1. Grease four round baking dishes (each 15 cm in diameter) with butter.
  2. 2. Beat the eggs together with the sugar until frothy.
  3. 3. Add 100 grams of flour, a pinch of salt, baking powder, quark (a type of fresh cheese), and milk to the egg mixture.
  4. 4. Stir the ingredients well until you have a smooth batter.
  5. 5. Wash the cherries and remove the pits.
  6. 6. Let the cherries drain well.
  7. 7. Toss the cherries gently with the remaining flour.
  8. 8. Fill half of the batter into the prepared dishes.
  9. 9. Distribute half of the cherries evenly over the batter.
  10. 10. Add the remaining batter on top and smooth it out.
  11. 11. Sprinkle the remaining cherries over the cake.
  12. 12. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C for fan-assisted or gas mark 3).
  13. 13. Bake the cakes for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  14. 14. Sprinkle flaked almonds over the cakes.
  15. 15. Bake them for an additional 10 minutes.
  16. 16. Remove the cakes from the oven.
  17. 17. Serve them immediately.
