  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
  2. 2. Grease a round baking dish with butter.
  3. 3. Whisk the eggs together with the sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy.
  4. 4. Add the flour, a pinch of salt, the baking powder, the quark (curd cheese), and the milk to the egg mixture.
  5. 5. Stir the ingredients well until a smooth batter forms.
  6. 6. Wash the cherries and remove the pits.
  7. 7. Halve the cherries and let them drain well.
  8. 8. Pour the batter into the prepared dish.
  9. 9. Distribute the cherries evenly over the batter.
  10. 10. Press the cherries slightly into the batter.
  11. 11. Bake the clafouti for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. 12. Let the cake cool down for a short while.
  13. 13. Dust it with powdered sugar.
  14. 14. Serve it with whipped cream if desired.
