🍽️ Crispy Chickpea Balls with Fresh Yogurt Dip

Ingredients
- 500 g chickpeas (can)
- 1 onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
- 1 pinch cumin
- sea salt
- cayenne pepper
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- oil (for deep frying)
- 250 g yogurt (1.5% fat)
- 1 untreated lemon (juice and zest)
- 2 tbsp chopped mint
Instructions
- 1. Pour the chickpeas into a colander and let them drain well.
- 2. Peel the onion and dice it finely.
- 3. Peel the garlic clove.
- 4. Wash the parsley and shake it dry.
- 5. Pluck the parsley leaves and chop them finely.
- 6. Puree the chickpeas into a mixture.
- 7. Stir the diced onion into the chickpea mixture.
- 8. Press the garlic through and stir it in.
- 9. Fold in the chopped parsley.
- 10. Season the mixture with cumin, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- 11. Knead the breadcrumbs into the mixture.
- 12. Lightly moisten your hands.
- 13. Form walnut-sized balls from the mixture.
- 14. Roll the balls lightly in sesame seeds.
- 15. Heat oil in a pan.
- 16. Fry the balls in batches in the hot oil.
- 17. Fry them for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.
- 18. Place the finished balls on kitchen paper.
- 19. Let the excess oil drain well.
- 20. Mix the yogurt with lemon juice.
- 21. Add the lemon zest to the yogurt mixture.
- 22. Fold the mint into the yogurt.
- 23. Serve the balls with the yogurt sauce.
- 24. Sprinkle with sea salt and serve the dish.
