🍽️ Classic Potato and Carrot Gratin

Ingredients
- 800 g potatoes
- 600 g carrots (thick)
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp butter
- 100 g feta cheese
- 300 ml vegetable broth
- pepper
- salt
- nutmeg
- 200 ml milk
- 50 ml whipping cream
Instructions
- 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water.
- 2. Peel the potatoes and the carrots.
- 3. Slice the potatoes and carrots into 2 to 3 millimeter thick slices.
- 4. Peel the onion.
- 5. Dice the onion into fine cubes.
- 6. Grease a shallow, ovenproof dish with butter.
- 7. Sprinkle the onion cubes into the dish.
- 8. Arrange the potato and carrot slices in a shingled strip pattern in the dish.
- 9. Grate the feta cheese finely.
- 10. Mix the grated feta with the vegetable broth.
- 11. Pour the feta-broth mixture over the vegetable slices.
- 12. Gently shake the dish to distribute the liquid evenly.
- 13. Mix the milk with the cream.
- 14. Pour the milk-cream mixture over the vegetables as well.
- 15. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius.
- 16. Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for 40 to 60 minutes.
- 17. Note that the cooking time may vary depending on the potato variety.
