  1. 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2. Peel the potatoes and the carrots.
  3. 3. Slice the potatoes and carrots into 2 to 3 millimeter thick slices.
  4. 4. Peel the onion.
  5. 5. Dice the onion into fine cubes.
  6. 6. Grease a shallow, ovenproof dish with butter.
  7. 7. Sprinkle the onion cubes into the dish.
  8. 8. Arrange the potato and carrot slices in a shingled strip pattern in the dish.
  9. 9. Grate the feta cheese finely.
  10. 10. Mix the grated feta with the vegetable broth.
  11. 11. Pour the feta-broth mixture over the vegetable slices.
  12. 12. Gently shake the dish to distribute the liquid evenly.
  13. 13. Mix the milk with the cream.
  14. 14. Pour the milk-cream mixture over the vegetables as well.
  15. 15. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius.
  16. 16. Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for 40 to 60 minutes.
