  2. 2. Rub the baking dish with the garlic clove.
  3. 3. Wash the potatoes.
  4. 4. Peel the potatoes.
  5. 5. Slice the potatoes thinly or shred them.
  6. 6. Arrange the potato slices in a fan shape and evenly in the baking dish.
  7. 7. Mix the cream, cheese, and crème fraîche in a bowl.
  8. 8. Season the mixture with salt, nutmeg, and pepper.
  9. 9. Pour the sauce over the potatoes.
  10. 10. Make sure the potatoes are just covered.
  11. 11. Add more or less cream if necessary.
  12. 12. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  13. 13. Set the oven to conventional heat (top and bottom heating).
  14. 14. Bake the gratin for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown.

  16. 16. If the fork pierces easily and comes out easily, the potatoes are done.
