🍽️ Crispy Potato Gratin

Ingredients
- 800 g firm-cooking potatoes
- 400 ml whipping cream
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp crème fraîche
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg (freshly grated)
- 60 g grated cheese (e.g. Gruyère, Emmentaler)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the garlic clove.
- 2. Rub the baking dish with the garlic clove.
- 3. Wash the potatoes.
- 4. Peel the potatoes.
- 5. Slice the potatoes thinly or shred them.
- 6. Arrange the potato slices in a fan shape and evenly in the baking dish.
- 7. Mix the cream, cheese, and crème fraîche in a bowl.
- 8. Season the mixture with salt, nutmeg, and pepper.
- 9. Pour the sauce over the potatoes.
- 10. Make sure the potatoes are just covered.
- 11. Add more or less cream if necessary.
- 12. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- 13. Set the oven to conventional heat (top and bottom heating).
- 14. Bake the gratin for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
- 15. Test for doneness with a fork.
- 16. If the fork pierces easily and comes out easily, the potatoes are done.
- 17. Turn on the grill for the last 10 minutes.
- 18. Bake the top layer until crispy and brown.
