🍽️ Crispy Potato Gratin with Mustard Crust

Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic
- 800 g waxy potatoes
- 350 ml heavy cream
- 2 tbsp crème fraîche
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg (freshly grated)
- 2 tbsp coarse mustard seeds
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius using the top and bottom heat setting.
- 2. Peel the garlic clove and cut it in half.
- 3. Rub the inside of the gratin dish with the cut surfaces of the garlic to infuse it with flavor.
- 4. Wash, peel, and slice or shred the potatoes into thin pieces.
- 5. Distribute the potato slices evenly in the prepared dish.
- 6. Whisk the cream and crème fraîche together in a separate bowl.
- 7. Season the cream mixture with salt, pepper, and ground nutmeg.
- 8. Pour the seasoned cream mixture over the potatoes.
- 9. Ensure the potatoes are just covered with liquid. Add more or less cream if necessary.
- 10. Brush the top layer of potatoes thinly with mustard.
- 11. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake the gratin for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
- 12. Turn on the grill function for the last 10 minutes to make the surface crispy and brown.
