🍽️ Crispy Potato Gratin

Ingredients
- 800 g firm-cooking potatoes
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 sprigs thyme
- 400 ml heavy cream (at least 30% fat content)
- 75 g freshly grated Parmesan
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly.
- 2. Slice the potatoes into very thin slices or use a grater.
- 3. Peel the garlic cloves from their skin.
- 4. Press the garlic through a garlic press.
- 5. Wash the thyme sprigs under running water.
- 6. Shake the thyme sprigs dry.
- 7. Pluck the small thyme leaves from the stems.
- 8. Mix the cream with the pressed garlic.
- 9. Add the plucked thyme leaves to the cream mixture.
- 10. Stir the grated cheese into the cream.
- 11. Season the mixture with salt.
- 12. Season the mixture with freshly ground pepper.
- 13. Season the mixture with a pinch of ground nutmeg.
- 14. Place the potato slices in a circular, shingle-like pattern in a baking dish.
- 15. Pour the cream-cheese mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- 16. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- 17. Bake the gratin for 45 minutes in the preheated oven.
- 18. Remove the gratin from the oven when it is golden brown.
- 19. Serve the potato gratin directly while hot.
