🍽️ Crispy Potato Gratin

Ingredients
- 800 g firm-cooking potatoes
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 sprigs thyme
- 400 ml whipping cream (at least 30% fat content)
- 75 g freshly grated Parmesan
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly.
- 2. Slice the potatoes into very thin slices or use a grater.
- 3. Peel the garlic cloves and press the garlic through a garlic press.
- 4. Wash the thyme sprigs and shake them dry.
- 5. Pluck the small thyme leaves from the stems.
- 6. Mix the cream with the pressed garlic and the thyme leaves.
- 7. Stir the grated cheese into the cream mixture.
- 8. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and a pinch of ground nutmeg.
- 9. Place the potato slices in a baking dish in an overlapping circular pattern like roof tiles.
- 10. Pour the cream-cheese mixture evenly over the layered potatoes.
- 11. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius conventional heat (or 180 degrees Celsius fan-forced or gas mark 2 to 3).
- 12. Bake the gratin in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- 13. Remove the gratin from the oven and serve it immediately.
