🍽️ Crispy Potato Gratin

Ingredients
- 800 g firm-cooking potatoes
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 sprigs thyme
- 400 ml whipping cream (at least 30% fat content)
- 75 g freshly grated Parmesan
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly.
- 2. Slice the potatoes into very thin slices or use a grater.
- 3. Peel the garlic cloves.
- 4. Press the garlic through a press or chop it finely.
- 5. Wash the thyme sprigs under running water.
- 6. Shake them dry so that no water remains on them.
- 7. Pluck the small thyme leaves from the stems.
- 8. Mix the cream with the prepared garlic.
- 9. Add the plucked thyme leaves to the cream mixture.
- 10. Stir the grated cheese into the cream.
- 11. Season the mixture with a pinch of salt.
- 12. Add freshly ground pepper.
- 13. Grate some fresh nutmeg into the sauce.
- 14. Place the potato slices in a baking dish in an overlapping shingle pattern.
- 15. Pour the cream-cheese mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- 16. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius conventional heat.
- 17. Bake the gratin in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
- 18. The gratin is ready when it is golden brown and crispy.
- 19. Carefully remove the dish from the oven.
- 20. Serve the potato gratin hot at the table.
