🍰 Caramelized Yeast Dumplings

Ingredients
- 100 ml lukewarm milk (approx.)
- 0.5 cube yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 300 g flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 3 drops rum flavor
- 1 egg
- 30 g soft butter
- butter (for the pan)
- flour (for working)
- 50 g butter
- 80 g brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (ground)
Instructions
- 1. Mix the milk with the yeast and the sugar.
- 2. Let the mixture stand for about 10 minutes until it foams.
- 3. Put the flour, the salt, the flavors, the egg, and the butter into a large bowl.
- 4. Pour the yeast-milk mixture over the dry ingredients.
- 5. Knead everything into a smooth dough until it releases from the bowl.
- 6. If the dough is too soft, add a little more flour.
- 7. If the dough is too firm, add a little more milk.
- 8. Cover the bowl with a cloth.
- 9. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- 10. Grease the cake pan with butter.
- 11. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 12. Melt the butter for rolling in a small pot.
- 13. Let the melted butter cool down slightly.
- 14. Mix the sugar with the cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- 15. Divide the dough into 4 to 5 equal pieces.
- 16. Work on a lightly floured surface.
- 17. Roll each piece of dough into a long rope.
- 18. Cut the ropes into small, equal-sized pieces.
- 19. Shape the dough pieces into small balls.
- 20. Roll the balls first in the melted butter.
- 21. Then roll the buttery balls all around in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- 22. Layer the balls into the prepared pan.
- 23. Bake the dumplings in the oven for about 35 minutes.
- 24. Let the dumplings cool in the pan for about 30 minutes.
- 25. Invert the cake onto a serving plate.
- 26. Serve the dumplings best while still warm.
