  1. 1. Wash the apple thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2. Cut off the top lid of the apple.
  3. 3. Remove the core using a corer or a spoon.
  4. 4. Slice the flesh into even slices.
  5. 5. Heat a pan over medium heat.
  6. 6. Add the butter to the pan and let it melt.
  7. 7. Stir the honey into the melted butter.
  8. 8. Place the apple slices flat into the pan.
  9. 9. Pour the butter-honey mixture over the apples repeatedly.
  10. 10. Turn the slices occasionally so they caramelize evenly.
  11. 11. Let the apples cook until glossy for about 10 minutes.
  12. 12. Put the cream, sugar, and vanilla seeds into a separate bowl.
  13. 13. Whip the mixture with a mixer until it is firm.
  14. 14. Place the stiff cream into small bowls.
  15. 15. Place the bowls of cream onto the serving plates.
  16. 16. Place the caramelized apple slices next to the cream.
  17. 17. Deglaze the remaining liquid in the pan with rum.
  18. 18. Let the sauce reduce briefly until it thickens slightly.
  19. 19. Add the orange zest to the warm sauce.
  20. 20. Drizzle the sauce around the apples on the plates.
  21. 21. Arrange the orange zest decoratively on top of the cream.
  22. 22. Serve the dish immediately while it is still warm.
