  1. 1. Cut the vanilla pod in half lengthwise.
  2. 2. Scrape out the vanilla seeds with a knife.
  3. 3. Whip the egg whites and salt stiffly with a hand mixer.
  4. 4. Stir the honey and vanilla seeds into the egg white mixture.
  5. 5. Add the coconut flakes, ground almonds, and cocoa powder.
  6. 6. Gently fold the ingredients in with a spatula.
  7. 7. Place about one teaspoon of the coconut mixture onto each wafer.
  8. 8. Place the wafers on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  9. 9. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius with fan.
  10. 10. Bake the macaroons for 10 to 12 minutes.
  11. 11. Let the macaroons cool down completely afterwards.
