  1. 1. Fill a pot with a little water and heat it until hot (do not let it boil). Place a heatproof bowl over the pot, making sure the bowl does not touch the water.
  2. 2. Add the egg yolks, powdered sugar, and rum into the bowl over the hot water.
  3. 3. Whisk the mixture with a whisk until it becomes pale and creamy.
  4. 4. Remove the bowl from the pot and set it aside.
  5. 5. Heat the milk in a small saucepan until it is hot.
  6. 6. Pour the hot milk into the hot coffee and stir.
  7. 7. Slowly pour the coffee-milk mixture into the egg yolk cream while stirring constantly.
  8. 8. Pour the nog into two glasses.
  9. 9. Garnish the drink with orange zest and serve immediately.
