🥤 Coffee Dates

Ingredients
- 375 g fresh dates
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 4 allspice berries
- 12 cardamom pods
- 400 ml espresso (or very strong coffee)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 450 g goat yogurt
- 1 organic orange
- 3 drops orange blossom water
- lemon balm (to taste)
Instructions
- 1. Make a lengthwise cut into the dates.
- 2. Remove the pits from the dates.
- 3. Break the cinnamon stick into small pieces.
- 4. Place the dates, cinnamon pieces, and allspice berries into a large jar.
- 5. Lightly crush the cardamom pods with a heavy knife.
- 6. Heat the espresso with the sugar and cardamom.
- 7. Heat the mixture until just below the boiling point.
- 8. Pour the hot coffee mixture over the dates in the jar.
- 9. Seal the jar.
- 10. Let the dates steep in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.
- 11. Wash the orange thoroughly.
- 12. Dry the orange.
- 13. Grate the orange peel.
- 14. Line a sieve with a coffee filter or cheesecloth.
- 15. Place the goat yogurt into the lined sieve.
- 16. Cover the yogurt with foil.
- 17. Let the yogurt drain overnight in the refrigerator.
- 18. Stir the drained yogurt until smooth.
- 19. Mix the yogurt with 1 teaspoon of orange peel.
- 20. Mix the yogurt with the orange juice.
- 21. Serve the very cold dates.
- 22. Garnish the dates with orange zest if desired.
- 23. Garnish the dates with lemon balm if desired.
