🍽️ Bosnian Cheese Snail

Ingredients
- 250 g fine flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (and oil for brushing)
- flour (for working)
- 250 g feta
- 200 g cottage cheese
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 3 eggs
- 1 tbsp chopped thyme
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 100 ml melted butter
- 1 egg yolk
Instructions
- 1. Mix flour, salt, oil, and about 150 milliliters of lukewarm water into a smooth dough.
- 2. If the dough crumbles, add a little more water.
- 3. Knead the dough vigorously for about 10 minutes and slap it against the work surface several times.
- 4. Shape the dough into a ball, brush it with oil, and wrap it in cling film.
- 5. Let the dough rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- 6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius using top and bottom heat.
- 7. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 8. Mash the feta cheese with a fork.
- 9. Mix the mashed feta with the cottage cheese, yogurt, and eggs.
- 10. Season the filling with thyme, salt, and pepper.
- 11. Divide the dough into two or three portions and knead them well again.
- 12. Dust a kitchen towel with flour and roll one dough portion into a long strip.
- 13. The dough should become so thin that the pattern of the kitchen towel is visible.
- 14. Brush the dough thinly with melted butter.
- 15. Spread some filling in the center of the dough.
- 16. Roll the dough up tightly.
- 17. Shape the roll into a snail on the baking tray and place the seam side down.
- 18. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
- 19. Place the other snails tightly around the first roll.
- 20. Push the end of the last dough roll downwards.
