  1. 1. Prepare the fondue pot or four small bowls.
  2. 2. Lightly press a clove of garlic.
  3. 3. Cut the garlic clove in half.
  4. 4. Rub the inside of the bowls thoroughly with the garlic.
  5. 5. Warm the emptied bowls briefly.
  6. 6. Pour the wine into a pot.
  7. 7. Heat the wine in the pot.
  8. 8. Grate the cheese finely while doing this.
  9. 9. Add the grated cheese to the warm wine.
  10. 10. Set the heat to medium.
  11. 11. Stir the mixture constantly.
  12. 12. Let the mixture melt into a smooth cream.
  13. 13. Set aside some kirsch (cherry brandy).
  14. 14. Mix the cornstarch with the kirsch until smooth.
  15. 15. Stir the starch-kirsch mixture into the cheese mixture.
  16. 16. Let the fondue mixture boil once briefly.
  17. 17. Season the fondue with salt.
  18. 18. Season the fondue with pepper.
  19. 19. Season the fondue with nutmeg.
  20. 20. Fill the fondue into the pre-warmed bowls.
  21. 21. Sprinkle a little extra pepper on top.
  22. 22. Serve the fondue with bread as desired.
