🍽️ Creamy Cheese Fondue

Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic
- 350 ml dry white wine
- 300 g Emmentaler
- 300 g Gruyère cheese
- 10 g cornstarch
- 40 ml kirsch
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- bread cut into cubes (e.g. dark bread)
Instructions
- 1. Prepare the fondue pot or four small bowls.
- 2. Lightly press a clove of garlic.
- 3. Cut the garlic clove in half.
- 4. Rub the inside of the bowls thoroughly with the garlic.
- 5. Warm the emptied bowls briefly.
- 6. Pour the wine into a pot.
- 7. Heat the wine in the pot.
- 8. Grate the cheese finely while doing this.
- 9. Add the grated cheese to the warm wine.
- 10. Set the heat to medium.
- 11. Stir the mixture constantly.
- 12. Let the mixture melt into a smooth cream.
- 13. Set aside some kirsch (cherry brandy).
- 14. Mix the cornstarch with the kirsch until smooth.
- 15. Stir the starch-kirsch mixture into the cheese mixture.
- 16. Let the fondue mixture boil once briefly.
- 17. Season the fondue with salt.
- 18. Season the fondue with pepper.
- 19. Season the fondue with nutmeg.
- 20. Fill the fondue into the pre-warmed bowls.
- 21. Sprinkle a little extra pepper on top.
- 22. Serve the fondue with bread as desired.
