🍳 Homemade Redcurrant Jam

Ingredients
- 750 g blackcurrants
- 750 g redcurrants
- 500 ml water
- 800 g jam sugar (2:1)
Instructions
- 1. Wash the redcurrants thoroughly.
- 2. Drain the berries well.
- 3. Remove the stems from the berries.
- 4. Place the berries with 500 milliliters of water into a pot.
- 5. Boil the mixture for 15 minutes.
- 6. Wait until all the berries have burst.
- 7. Line a large sieve with a moist jelly bag.
- 8. Place the sieve over a large pot.
- 9. Pour the berry mash into the sieve.
- 10. Let the juice drip through slowly.
- 11. Squeeze the remaining berries in the cloth.
- 12. Let the juice cool down completely.
- 13. Measure out 1.3 to 1.5 liters of juice.
- 14. Mix the juice with jam sugar.
- 15. Place the mixture in a large pot.
- 16. Heat the mixture over high heat.
- 17. Stir constantly.
- 18. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 19. Boil the jam vigorously for 4 to 6 minutes.
- 20. Continue stirring while you cook.
- 21. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 22. Rinse the jars with hot water.
- 23. Fill the jam to the brim into the hot jars.
- 24. Seal the jars immediately with lids.
- 25. Transfer any leftovers into a jar or bowl.
- 26. Garnish the leftovers with fresh berries.
- 27. Serve the jam for breakfast.
