  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the redcurrants.
  2. 2. Strip the berries from the stems using a fork.
  3. 3. Place the berries, sugar, and water into a pot.
  4. 4. Stir the mixture until it comes to a boil.
  5. 5. Line a sieve with a cloth.
  6. 6. Pour the cooked fruit and juice into the sieve.
  7. 7. Let the juice drip slowly into a pot placed underneath.
  8. 8. Do not squeeze the fruit too hard to keep the jelly clear.
  9. 9. Cut the vanilla pod lengthwise twice.
  10. 10. Cut the pod into strips about four centimeters long.
  11. 11. Measure the drained redcurrant juice.
  12. 12. Add the juice, an equal amount of jam sugar, and the vanilla strips to a pot.
  13. 13. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  14. 14. Let the jelly boil vigorously for three minutes.
  15. 15. Fill the hot jelly into prepared jars.
  16. 16. Seal the jars tightly.
